Hi there, Im a beginner to hypnosis. I've succesfully hypnotized a few people, all with varying success. One particular person fell into a deep trance and I was able to perform many of the 'usual' stage hypnotic tricks (me being invisible and moving objects, him not bring able to understand english etc.) Finally at the end, I told him that I was going to wake him up properly (ie out of the trance); but I said that once awake he would have a urge to spray himself with deodrant once and then the urge would pass. I repeated this, asked him if he understooded and was confident that I made myself clear. Anyway once fully awake and out of the trance, he did spray himself with deoderant. Yet he would not stop, and for around 10mins just wanted to use the deoderant. Anyway I put him under again and removed the suggestion, and when he awoke he was fine. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments? Did I do something wrong, was I over my head? (he did comment after that the urge was fading) Thanks

Since this doesn't happen to the rest of us, it must be that you did something wrong, and was over your head as you suggest. What you did or didn;t do we don;t know, we weren't there were we?

This sounds to me that the problem might have arised when you said the urge would pass, but not when. Presumably his subconscious was waiting for it to ceace, instead of making int ceace. Try giving a definite ending time.

Thanks Dizzy! I tired a similar post hypn suggestion on the same person; this time I was painfully precise on what I wanted to happen and repeated it numerous times. It worked perfectly!
