hello

I am doing a reasarch project for my AP psychology class, and i have a few questions than i need answers to but none of my efforts have proved valid, can you people here help?

here is what i need:
1: Are there any forms of determining hypnotic susctability other than the Stanford form? if so, where can i find them?

2:during a "stage show" of hypnosis, most participants don't recall what happened, but i have been through one my self, and remember every thing, has there been any actuall reasearch on this?

thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

1. Books.
2. Expectation.

I would agree with Terry (this makes me happy:-)) except on point (2) To which I would say 'not to my knowledge'.

1. *anyone* can be hypnotised. But it may require skills beyond a weekend training.

2 Erickson: The American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis, October,
1967, 10, 87-135. Claims there will be amnesia.
Elman, in his book "Hypnotherapy" says there is not.

My opinion, Erickson and Elman are talking about different things and calling both 'hypnosis'

Many here at this forum disagree with me though.

Merlin, those who have read Elman are likely to meet HIS expectations, while readers of the other guy will meet HIS unless direct suggestion of memory loss is given... I would therefor dispute your statement, while at the same time having no disagreement with it, just a differing viewpoint as to why it might occur differently depending on the expectation of the individual....Does that make sense? You see, I rarely gave suggestions of loss of memory of a session, since I see it as counter productive, but on some occassions it occured anyway, and was due to client expectations based on what they had read prior to the session. When I suggested it would be helpfull for them to remember the next session, they did but I would suggest that this was because I told them too and overcame the intitial expectation....

I would agree with Terry (this makes me happy:-)) except on point (2) To which I would say 'not to my knowledge'. Well, my reply to \Merlin might illuminate my intent when replying to number 2 (G).....
