Hi all,
Just read "The Holographic Universe" by M.Talbot. In it there is a documented case of a man who is hypnotized not to see a girl in the room ,and no matter what she does he does not notice it,as if she isn't there !She screams ,talks but she is not there for him. What shocked me the most is that he was able to say the right time by a hidden watch behind her! He was seeing the watch through her, I was amazed so I decided to ask you whether those things are really possible under hypnosis .

Negative hallucination is recognised as 'Hypnotic Phenomena' and there are some great videos of this phenomena if you google
e.g hypnosis invisible elman
I have read Holographic universe and it's a fascinating book to which I believe if you keep an open mind then 'anything' is possible.
When I get my broadband up I will dig out the video of one of the old masters performing this and post the link...

The phenomena is correct, your understanding of the meaning however may be wrong. Recognise that in spite of "not seeing" her, the young lady is still physically blocking the watch you reffer to, so he cannot "see" (in a physical sense) the time by the watch, he sees the time in his mind, and if the watch was removed from the room, he would still see it and know the time it registered.
The mind is a wonderful and powerful machine, understanding it takes more than a lifetime of study... However, it is not yet possible to SEE through the human body with nothing but the human eye...

One really does not need to be in trance for this to happen. How many times have you had a pen/pencil/book or similar object on a table somewhere and looked straight at it without seeing it? It frequently happens with car keys. Good news is for every negative hallucination there is a positive one too. We live in a wonderful world.

I had this happen to me at a RenFaire a few years back. An acquaintance came up and started talking to me; as she did she referred to her husband. I asked where was he, and she replied that he was right in front of me.
I literally did not see the man until she said something and yet I was staring right in front of me. I "saw" everything else going on behind him but he was invisible to me.
Strange....

What do you need hypnosis for, people in relationships do this all the time.

There's more truth than poetry in those words, Skip...
You gotta admit though, it takes some doing to not see a 6', 185 lbs man standing four feet in front of you. Gotta wonder.. what else am I not seeing?
