Hi,
I'm new to this forum. Really enjoy all the posts and the answers.
I have been doing hypnotherapy for about a year now. I have worked with clients for smoking cessation, sports development, weight problems, and exam anxiety. I have been successful with helping my clients and really feel good about the work I am doing with them. Recently I had a client come to me for help with anger management. This person happens to be a cousin of mine. When working with him, he goes into hypnosis well, and it seems the script I wrote for him based on our orientation session seems to have helped him tremendously. His wife, who was sceptical of hypnosis, says she has seen an improvement in controlling his anger. The problem is he spends a lot of time thinking about the session after it is complete and trying to remember what occurred during the session. He feels he needs to analayze the session or he won't get the results. He is an analytical person. He is getting the results he needs, but should I write something into the script to not be so analyical about the session. I believe the client should remember everything that went on, but in this case should I do something for him as far as analyzing the session.
Thanks.

Why not refer your cousin out to someone that has more experience? You may even ask if you can sit in on the session to learn about this. I know exactly how I would work with someone like your cousin. Does your instructor not help his/her students out when they need it by giving guidance and suggestions?

Congratulations on your success in other areas. :)

Be well,
Pood

MWC13,

Dealing with analytical clients appropriately is something that should
have been covered in training. I could answer your question, but
it would be giving you and others short shrift in the absence of
in-class coverage of this. I don't want to do that. Btw,
working with a family member is something that is generally not
a good idea and is often a bad idea.

Yes indeed I do know that lady. My question, since everything else has been covered is, what is wrong with her? I find her delightfull company, witty, charming, and most of all entertaining.

Is the session a secret?
During his hypnosis, give his mind permission to remember something.
