View Full Version : wondering if this sounds ecological

Earlier, I was working on anchoring confidence to my knuckle, and it worked ok. Then I did the swish pattern for my nail biting, and when I went to bite my nail, there was no need/compulsioin to do so. Thats when I got a kind of happy rush. . .and in my head I was like, "**** yeah, I did it. . .". Then wham, it hit me, thats confidence to me, so I anchored it. In your opinion, is it good to fire a confidence anchor while doing the swish pattern for the dissociated view.
Also, I'm going to run the swish pattern tonight for my studying like so:
Associated view = me touching the computer monitor (touchscreen)
then
dissociated view = looking at myself studying. . .completing a chapter. . .then going to use the computer afterwards.
My question is: how ecological does this sound. I was thinking that it might put me into a loop
associated view = x
dissociated view = y then x
will that lead to x to y to x to y to x to y
sorry, confusing myself
Thanks for all the help

It's always good to be confident about things, especially those things that you are competent in. If you are not competent in something, you can be confident about learning enough about the subject to be competent
Also, I'm going to run the swish pattern tonight for my studying like so:
What is it about studying that you are wanting to accomplish?
Associated view = me touching the computer monitor (touchscreen)
then
dissociated view = looking at myself studying. . .completing a chapter. . .then going to use the computer afterwards.
My question is: how ecological does this sound. I was thinking that it might put me into a loop

Me too :)
Always end up associated.
Psychoanalysis leaves people disassociated, and they then come to me to fix it. You could make a good living just standing outside your average psychologist's office and charging $20 a head to reassociate them as they come out. Find a group of psychologists in one office building and set up a booth, you could help 6-8 an hour.
"How do you feel about x? How do you feel about those feelings about x? How do you feel about those feelings, about those feelings, about x?"
Trancy isnt it?
Thats triple dissassociation, and they leave them there! Walking around, out of touch with themselves. But they dont feel so bad anymore so the therapy must have been a success, right? And what has the client learned? Feel bad, dissociate, feel better, never mind fixing the problem, enough 'therapy' and the client learns 'feel anything, dissociate. Now the client might as well hire someone to do their fxxking for them, because they are no longer home. And the psychologists dont even realize they are doing it!
ALWAYS reassociate back to first person, ALWAYS.

So you are saying this:
associated view - cue picture
swish to
dissociated view - desired behavior
then step into the desired behavior?
Can you describe in detail
Thanks
Master debator,
Assuming you know how to do the swish itsself, without leaving out small but significant details, such as doing it in your primary representational system in the context ...
And assuming that you intend to both future pace this, cross contextualize it, and I personally would do some change personal history so you have an experiential basis for the confidence, so that the new behavior feels comfortable and is reinforced by "past" experience, rather than new, and that you xfer some skills across context to support the confidence level, and that you take into consideration the issue in the other post I referred you to ...
Yes I think it will work, and be a lasting part of your behavior.
Can I describe it in detail?
Yes, but I am not going to go to the trouble for someone who didnt trouble themselves to find a post I specifically referred them to, for some information that is vital for them to get the outcome they want.
Now if you think, I should do more for you, than you apparently are willing to do for yourself, maybe you could perhaps convince me to describe in detail.
It never hurts to ask, but if you want more it behoves you to follow or at least investigate the advice previously offered.
But dont pay any attention to me, I am just an olf fart that is out of touch.
cheers,

I'm sorry, where is this post that you mentioned.
Yes, but I am not going to go to the trouble for someone who didnt trouble themselves to find a post I specifically referred them to, for some information that is vital for them to get the outcome they want.
No my apologies, it was apparently either in my imagination, or in response to someone else working on confidence, or perhaps my dreams?
Do a search of the archives using the key words "trust yourself", you will find a thread dealing with installing confidence.
Then check back with me, further.
OK
Again my apologies.

I tried to find that thread, but couldn't. Thanks for helping me.

OK Master Debator,
I take back part of my apology, it was you I referred to the post, just in a different thread. You didnt try to find it then.

But if you had tried to find it you wouldnt have, because it didnt come up with the key words I gave you. Here is the post.
The last paragraph is the reference, ponder it for a bit, and see if you percieve the distinction made. Would that change, in any way, the states you want to use in your swish?
