ok, tip # 1
Richard Bandler suggests in his book "Time For A Change" that if you start to fall out of trance because you are not concentrated enough (to me it means I am not serious enough sometimes) then you should have a way to make your mind not do this. He suggests that you start making the images that are unwanted glow so as to distinguish them from what you should be seein.
This technique is gold, just make sure you are constant with evrything you do.
Once you see them glowing, it will be easy for you to make them last a short while.

Oh I forgot to mention, this also works incredibly well with the other representational systems; well, mainly auditory representations.
Perhaps you might find yourself veering off from what you should be hearing/telling yourself during a trance. This is completely normal but sometimes this behaviour can carry out for a whole week and really make you waste your time.
The trick here is to know when you are going to veer off and just before you do, add a twist to the sounds you are hearing. Turn its volume up so high you literally feel that sound disappearing into silence.
Or, have a second voice ready and make a natural transition to that one so as to add depth and feeling to the whole trance without allowing it to be interrupted. Very good hypnotists do that and it does make you go in deeper.
