View Full Version : While sitting at your desk - try this!

While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction. And there's nothing you can do about it!

That's one of those fun demonstrations of neuronal activity isn't it? I like the one where you point your hands towards each other, a bit like the rotating hands induction, and rotate your right hand clockwise then try and rotate the left hand anticlockwise. There is something you can do about it - you can overcome the neuronal/mental confusion with just a few tries and can do the 'trick' without problems. I find these things fascinating and fun.

I have successfully done the trick. Who wants to buy a recently christened lucky shirt ?

Orderly line folks, no shoving. :-)

I can do it without changing my foot direction, you can too.

Reverse the way you form the six. You still make a perfect six, just not the way you were taught to do it.

cheers,

I can, if I concentrate. And it doesn't really change direction, just gets a little "troubbled". Try turning both arms in one direction, than after some seconds doing it turn ONE of the hands the opposite way around, but keep it up with the other hand. If your other hand stops, you lose.

Here is a thought...

Do you think you could 'complete' the same tests again under self hypnosis? Doing it correctly, that is?
