The History of Comminication Science

I was wondering if there is along history of "communication technology" (NLP)?

I would imagine there was a period of time where hypnosis was a part of history and it most likely changed the way people perceived the world. Sort of like Paradigm shifts within the profession of communication.

I ask this because I recall a signature asking what it was like before you changed which suggests to me a profound and possibly radical change in the way of thinking and perceiving things. I would be very interested in learning more about the history of this perception if it exists. If it has only existed in this time frame of human history. Where did it for the most part begin?

It's not that I want to be spoon fed... I'm just treading carefully... A little freaked out with the science front and the way it melds with religion...

Historically there seems to be recurring themes of where people shift their thinking patterns from one alignment to another...

I was curious if there were any historical turning points which would be good reference for a beginner like myself while researching the correct path for me to step forward with.

NLP has really and truthfully NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY RELIGION!! NLP is about how to use language artfully. We can speak directly to the unconscious mind while talking to the conscious mind. Hypnosis is absolutely wonderful; however, as our lovely Merlin wrote not long ago NLP is like hypnosis on a jet plane. NLP deletes negative and limiting beliefs and installs a a great sense of confidence, happiness and allows for much more success in life. Some universities favor students that know NLP. In England certain universities are making it mandatory for certain degrees. NLP will allow you to be a much better parent, have much more success in a career so you won't be one of the people "downsized". NLP enhances every aspect of your life as you are the one in control of your life. You will learn how to have great rapport with everyone and you will be able to know what is going on with them inside their minds. With NLP you will be in charge of your "state" and other people won't be able to change it. NLP also has certain techniques to change neurology quickly -- a phobia 10-15 min., PTSD 15 min. Besides all of that, it's just plain FUN.

NLP is simply how to use your brain instead of letting other people use it for you. It is also a great defense against commercials and politicians. What I wrote is called a Pattern Interrupt. I enjoy teaching them and using them. There are also natural Kinesthetic pattern interrupts -- example: my door handle is on the left hand side and opens up instead of down which confuses people as that is not normal in the USA. Just think -- you walk into a darkened room and reach for the lights -- where does your hand go? What happens when the light switch isn't where it's supposed to be? Pattern Interrupt!! There is also DHE (Design Human Enginering) and NHR (Neuro-Hypnotic Repatterning).

Life is exciting and fun even for the people that build websites and do SEO.

NLP is about both conscious and unconscious communication, that works.

And by works, I mean very effective and consistant, reproducable, and LEARN able.

So, for instance, take Socrates.

He used communication techniques that were effective.

NLP would sudy his communication, the beliefs and values he held about comunication as well as his techniques and codify it so that it could be reproduced, and used as effectively as Socrates did. On both a conscious and unconscious level.

People have always been interested in effective communication, and have studied it, and tried to reproduce the results of the great communicators.

NLP is a vast improvement on that method of study in such a way that makes the DUPLICATION of the excellence better, faster, and easier.

And that holds true for any 'excellence', it isnt just limited to communication skills.
