Somebody did ask me to telephone him on the phone because he lives quite far from me. He was refered to me by somebody I hypnotized a while ago. Well, I hypnotized quite a few people but never did that over the phone. And I'm not that sure if this is a good idea.
Has somebody here experience with that? And what do you think about hypnotizing somebody over the phone?

Hypnosis via the telephone can be done, but therapy is unlikely to be successful since not all senses are in play. This would be no different from sending them a tape without consultation time.......

For a change :) , I agree with Terry. Further how would you be able to deal with any possible abreaction, know what the client was doing in terms of going in and/or out of trance.

No problem hypnotising them, but there is a vast difference between hypnotising someone and performing therapy with them. What you ask is no different from selling them a tape without consultation.

Hi Hypnomania,

We have had some students experiment with hypnosis, NLP and Time Line Therapy(TM) over the phone with some success. In my discussions with them, they told me that they would limit their work to issues that were appropriate via the telephone and that they would avoid problems that would require an individual to be in front of the practitioner (i.e. face to face). My suggestion is to always keep the client’s interests and wellbeing first in any work.

Additionally, since NLP and Time Line Therapy(TM) are mainly done in the waking state, it may be easier to utilize these approaches over the phone as opposed to hypnosis.

So could you apply hypnotherapy through the internet with cameras and stuff?

Thank you, that's a very good idea. I feel much more comfortable with doing this.

Yes, I've used NLP and TLT techniques over the phone too, quite successfully

1) In Denmark the bestknown hypnotist worked through the phone for 5 years, as he was sentenced to not see female clients fir 5 years. I guess the court figured that his morals was fully restored after this timespan!

2) A rather pragmatic way to look at therapy is as a salessituation, can you sell stuff on the phone?
