Go to any qualified hypnotist/hypnotherapist. Sleeping can be just a change in the circadian rhythm of our body or can be a signal that something is very much amiss. If you were to break your arm, would you post a question for MD's on how to set it and cast it? How about your teeth? Want to go down to the local hardware store for a drill?

One of my best friends is a psychiatrist. She had a patient that had a sleeping problem -- quite normal for clinical depression so was put on meds. In a few months that patient was DEAD. It was a brain tumor. To quote her: "Dead patients are not good for my reputation."

Be well,
Pood :)

That would be a good reason to have sleeping problems too, or start a clinical depression...

Here is something easy, possibly it might help. Have you tried a body scan? Start at your feet. Concentrate! Relax your toes, bottom of feet, top of feet, legs, knees etc., all of the way up, chest, arms, neck, back of head, top, etc. Really focus on each body part. Start with a positive attitude. If you complete the scan imagine yourself in a comfortable place. Like on the beach laying there in your totally relaxed state listening to the waves, going to sleep. It has worked for me. Pleasant dreams.

There is not such thing as a "minor hypnosis technique". You either learn hypnosis, seek help from a pro, or be really smart and stop looking for answers to ALL your problems in hypnosis. A glass of warm milk before bed is much cheaper and simpler than hypnosis for sleep problems, as is ensuring that your last meal it taken several hours before bedtime.

Try counting shrinks. By the time you get to 100 you're fast asleep.

But seriously - Terry's approach is better. Hypnosis would help in may cases (such as if you can't sleep due to troubling thoughts), but since you didn't mention anything of that sort - the milk solution would be better, less expensive, and much tastier.

One of my colleague's clients swore by yak milk. He had been unable to get it since arriving in England and had been subsequently sleepless in Swindon. My colleague showed him how to make cow's milk taste exactly like yak milk. It took him, as a pro, about twenty minutes.

I had a client with sleep disturbance problems which took five sessions to eliminate, and involved areas of the client's life that were consciously forgotten and deeply traumatic.

My advice is to go and see a professional.
