Hello there,

I bought myself a hypnosis CD and I just had a quick question. English is my second language. I do understand almost all spoken and written English and have no trouble watching a movie without subtitles for example.

Does this impact the effectiveness of the CD at all?

Regards,
Nsm

and welcome!! Please read Merlin's FAQ and you will find you answer.
I learned hypnotherapy in Spanish from a psychiatrist that used it in his practice. That does not stop me from using it in English. At a more recent training I worked most of the time with a lady from Chile and we did everything in Spanish.

Miss Piggy here is German/English. We have lots of people from all around the world.

Hi, NSM, and welcome.

To answer your question directly, no, it should not impact the effectiveness of the CD.

The real question is whether or not the CD is effective in any language. Hypnotherapy is person oriented, not process oriented. By that I mean that one process does not work for everyone. A trained hypnotherapist begins by interviewing you and learning what your specific needs and desired outcomes are. Then, he or she designs a specific hypnotic induction and set of suggestions just for you. You're special and you deserve it!

A CD treats everyone the same. What if the induction on the CD doesn't work for you? It might work for someone else but not for you. What if the suggestions don't apply specifically to your situation? They might work for someone else, but not for you.

So in this case, I think the question of language is quite secondary. The real question is whether that particular CD in any language would work for you. I don't know.

I do know that if you go to a trained and experienced hypnotherapist he or she will be able to help you quickly. I don't know about the CD.
