what to do???
Either miss all the wonderful sights from above, or, visit a hypnotist for a session or two. It's quite easy to overcome.

I imagine you already know that one use for hypnosis is the removal of phobia's, but why ask us when you can visit your local airport and hopefully find classes in this? Yes we can help at a cost, and do it quickly, but if you take more time it is cheaper at the airport were you do it using physical situations instead of imagined ones......No you can't do it for yourself..........

I got over the phobia by reading books by Ernest Holmes(Science Of Mind) and using NLP techniques. Holmes teaches using affirmations to re-condition the mind. I add NLP along with it to change the quality(submodalities) of the pictures.
NLP: think of flying as a cinematic movie. Start from the end of the movie, then rewind back quickly (as if pushing the rewind button while playing the cinema) until you are back in your original destination(maybe your house). Start from -You have arrived SAFELY, imagine the plane safely landed, then rewind back quickly to take off and back quickly to your house and to where you are now thinking about it. This process should be done in just about 5 to 10 seconds, the rewinding process. While rewinding, add funny comedy circus music to it, or relaxing soothing music.
Then play it forward quickly, from start to when you landed safely. I dont know why, but its important to play it QUICKLY (backwards and forward), so that your conscious mind dont have time to worry or think about other scenarios.
Do this many times. Or anytime you are thinking about flying.

All I can say is, be patient and be persistent in reconditioning your mind. When I started to treat myself, I did it consistently, about 3 times a day. After about 2 weeks the fear was gone. I use both methods together.

If you can find a Practitioner/ Master Practitioner in NLP in your area, they should know a technique called "Logical Levels Of Therapy". This is basically scrambling your strategy that in the past, you used to become afraid of flying. The end result is that you no longer can access that old strategy, hence cannot access how you became fearful. With a skilled Pracitioner, it can take all of 10 minutes.
