I was wondering if I can get a hypnotherapist here in Arlington, VA for free because I want to know whether if I can get memories in my head back that were locked away. Can anyone help me find a hypnotherapist here in Arlington, VA that's free that can help me get my memories back? I really need help because this is important. I need this because I dunno if my former stepdad raped me or not and I would also want to know why my former stepdad was raging about on my 9th birthday the night he hit me. This is freaky.
Please help me. I am only a teen. I am desperate for help.
Your help is most appreciated. Thank you for those who want to help me.
God Bless,
Christina

There is one more thing I would like to add....
Is Doctor Sally Ann Greer able to do this?
Thank you all again.

Please! Can someone kind enough help me!?
I don't know how old you are. However, if you suspect sexual or physical abuse--and have a good reason to do so--please contact your local mental health department. They should be able to help you for free or direct you to organizations that can do so.
This forum is designed for the discussion of hypnotherapy, hypnosis, NLP, and allied issues. It is not set up to recommend any specific therapists.

I need a hypnotherapist to open up my mind and find out what happened! Can someone find me a free hypnosis in Arlington, VA?
Christina,
A couple of things.
People who specialize in forensic theraputic work are more rare that regualr therapasts. That is because they go thru some very specialized training.
If we could find a forensic hypnotist in Arlington Va, something that is not guaranteed, they most certainly would not be free.
In addition, you indicate that you are a minor. NOTHING can be done without the involvement of your parents. Thats the law.
You say you have been physically abused, and think you might have been sexually abused. Discuss this with your mom, if you cannot do that, then strat with your school counselor.
Know this, once you strat this, it will take on a life of its own. Any adult you discuss this with, is obligated by law to report this to the police, and they will investigate. The good side of that is they have the resources to put you together with someone who can help you recover the memories. The bad part is that once begun, you will not have control over where it goes, or what happens as a result.
I cannot tell you what to do, but my opinion I that you have a right to get this settled for yourself, and that a therapast (hypnotist or not) would be an excellent place to start.

Therapy should not do you bad. Even if you "remember" things from your past in hypnosis does not mean they actually happened exactly like you "remember" them. These kind of "memories" are good to sort out in therapy, because they can help you with feelings etc. They are not reliable enough to do legal judgements, though. You seem to need to talk about this. If you hesitate to start anything unpredictable and public, maybe private free journaling would help you in this stage.
