Hi everyone, I am new here. I saw similar posts on this topic, but I am still compelled to ask. Here are 2 questions :
1. Regarding hypnosis cd's, mp3's (either self-made or bought), if you fall asleep before the end of the recording can it have any effect?
I purchased hypnosis mp3's (to only be listened at night) which at the end of the recording the hypnotist gives instructions to fall into a deep sleep.
However, it seems I never even make it to that part of the recording; I am out before that and I have no idea at what point, and I do not remember anything that was said. The author of these recordings believes one can be asleep or awake with no reduction of bentefit.
2.Am I wasting my time with these recordings or should I stick with it?
Thanks for your help.

You're listening to recordings and you're asking us if they'll work for you and/or are worth your time to continue?? That's impossible to answer. What have you noticed so far in regards to your behavior? What do you hope to achieve and are you seeing those results?
First response is, "I give up, is it working? You should know one way or another."
Second response is, "If you are falling asleep as a direct result of this fellows instructions, then you have a chance of getting what you are trying to achieve. If you are falling asleep prior to this fellows instructions to do so, then you are simply being bored, and arent likely to achieve what you are attempting."
Third response is, "Suggestions made for sleeping clients are highly specialized, and only a very few people are skilled in this. I sincerely doubt that what you are hearing is any more effective that any other tape played while asleep."
Fourth response is, "It is irrelevent whether you remember anything, or believe you were hypnotized. You either were, in which case the results should be forthcomming, or you werent, in whcih case you have purchased an excellent non addictive sedative and nothing more."
cheers,

Hi,
I would invite you to read my FAQ (http://s91495364.onlinehome.us/Hypnosisforum/Myhrrhleine/FAQ.htm)
Generally, your mind shuts off outside input when you're asleep.

Thank you all for your responses. Regarding sleeping- I don't know if I am asleep or not - I can compare it to drinking way too much and blacking out. In other words I have no idea what happened and when. So, maybe it does work.

So Myrhhliene,
you say that since this recording has instructions to relax at the beginning,
then it is bogus as far as hypnosis is concerned, more like "relax-o-therapy"?

I'm not in a position to judge a particular recording i've never heard.
Relaxation is nice, it just isn't hypnosis.
Is there anything else on the recording that is hypnosis?
I don't know. I've never heard it.

I know a certain paul mckenna who thoroughly believes suggestions are still going deep in to your unconscious mind when asleep.
IMHO i thought any sound / suggestions during this sleep process would be filtered out like junk just like the sound of flowing traffic outside your window.
Well as someone said it depends on skill level.

it definitely does depend upon skill level. I learned it at CI training - not before and I would imagine one would have to have the instructor with that knowledge. I don't believe all teach it; however, I'd bet the bank Dr. Matt knows it well.

It needs to be done IN PERSON!
Otherwise, Merlin's post stands.
