I learnt self-hypnosis from books but in the last month I simply can't concentrate when I hear an audio session. I keep thinking on other thinks' this makes me more nervous and this is the end of it. Can anyone here suggest me something to do?
Best regards, Ori.

I believe that this is a good thing! Letting your mind wander. Letting your conscious mind drift. You don't need to "concentrate," you don't even need to listen! Your unconscious mind hears everything and will remember whatever is important! So, just relax...

As long as the "thinking on other thinks" is positive, such as pleasant thoughts, daydreams, memories, just go with it, and stop worrying!

Just one question... When were you ever in a state of hypnosis, and how do you know?

1- read my FAQ
2- see a hypnotist and have her/him teach you self hypnosis (one session).

Well you just have to learn to relax

For me concentrating my breathing is a good start

BC, if that's what you "have to learn," what do you do if you're in a stressful situation and could use self-hypnosis and don't have time to do any relaxation techniques such as concentrating on the breath?

Did you know Diaphramtic breathing is the best method to compose yourself and focus ones mind. This is just the "norm" for me and quickly reduces stressfull situations.

You have to just make time to breathe xD

Both the original poster and bone assume incorrectly that they know self hypnosis, when in fact they do not. Diaphramitic breathing is nothing to do with hypnosis, but is in fact taken from Yoga... Now if you wish to discuss a particullar disipline it is well to ensure that all are on the same page, and based on what has passed for comment and counter comment on this subject, it would seem that that this is not so. Nothing wrong with Yoga, but it aint hypnosis and that is what we are supposed to be discussing.. I find it annoying when a poster makes comments to suggest they know that of which they comment, when in fact they do not, and are misleading others who read their posts....
Ori, if all you wish to do is play at hypnosis without any proper training, nobody here has the right to encourage you because to do so would invite you to follow the wrong path to success, and we are ethical practitioners who did the work, and put in the time to be good enough to do no harm. We do not train online, so you are wasting both your time and ours.

Hey doc, I have been reading up on surgical techniques, but I seem to be having problems using the scalpel, what am I doing wrong?

Listen closely, the mind is much more complicated than the body, so why are you messing with it? Oh yes, and why do you feel we should help you?

My point, BC, is that when you're up to your butt in alligators, you don't really have the ability to make time to breath. :)

I am fully aware of diaphragmatic breathing. I have taught it for over 20 years. I just came back from Kona, Hawaii, where I not only taught it to 450 people, but also explained the three other types of breathing and why diaphragmatic is not the best and not all it's cracked up to be.

Moral: don't make assumptions...

Wow Don you got me intrigued :)

Well Terry since Ori was performing "self hypnosis" and from my experience the hypnotherapist on these audio sessions more often then not engages in deep breathing to relax, rather then using a rapid induction, but you are correct in that "Diaphramitic breathing" is not related to hypnosis. However i was sharing some tips that worked for me

p.s I do realise that not everyone is the same and what works for me wont necessarily benefit anyone else.

Don,
don't you realise that if you should have 3rd degree burns, you can just relax and do "diaphragmatic breathing".
No other hypnosis needed :)

Hmm. It might be difficult if you are in an airborn explosion and the 3rd degree burns are to you lungs.

Nah
